The Grand Avenue Club works intimately with adults of the Milwaukee County community that have experienced mental illnesses to varying degrees. Operating year-round, the Grand Avenue Club strives to empower its participants and help them develop a consciousness about their value in society. This independent non-profit organization is based on the Clubhouse Model of Psychiatric Rehabilitation (www.iccd.org), which currently provides more than 300 similar communities around the world. Through the assistance of this program, involved clients are given opportunities to recover and engage with society through vocational training and education. These stepping stones have aided individuals in moving toward greater social satisfaction and integration. The influence and spread the Grand Avenue Club has had on the southeastern Wisconsin region have provided an extensive range of support invaluable to the lives of many.
