CBS News' Alex Wagner on Race, Identity, and Belonging

Thu, November 29, 2018
5:30 PM – 6:45 PM

The University of Chicago Institute of Politics welcomes Alex Wagner, co-host and executive producer of The Circus on CBS, for a conversation on her new book, Futureface. The memoir chronicles Ms. Wagner’s efforts to understand her family’s history, as she researches her father’s ancestors in Ireland and Luxembourg and retraces her mother’s own journey to the United States from Burma in the 1960s. The resulting book – a timely reflection on race, identity, migration, and belonging in an era where those questions are at the fore of public consciousness – has drawn praise from many readers, including former President Barack Obama. In addition to her work with The Circus, Ms. Wagner is also a contributing editor at The Atlantic.

SSA Associate Professor Dr. Gina M. Samuels will be moderating this conversation. Book sales and signing to follow.
