The School of Social Service Administration gives all full-time SSA master's and doctoral students a Chicago Public Transit Authority (CTA) U-Pass. Dual degree students are eligible for the U-Pass during each quarter in which they are full-time and SSA is their primary school (this means that they are taking at least two of their three courses at SSA). Due to CTA guidelines, students in our Part-Time programs are currently ineligible for the U-Pass program.

The U-Pass program allows cardholders to enjoy unlimited rides on CTA trains and buses during the academic year, while classes are in session. The dates of activation for the 2018-19 academic year are:

Summer Quarter: June 13, 2018 – August 25, 2018
Autumn Quarter:
September 26, 2018 – December 15, 2018
Winter Quarter:  January 2, 2019 – March 23, 2019 (U-Pass does not end this quarter)
Spring Quarter:  March 23, 2019 – June 15, 2019

Students will be assessed a $100/quarter fee for U-Pass privileges. If a student has leftover transit value on their U-Pass between school sessions the transit value will roll over. The value will not be affected regardless of student status or quarter.
