Unified Protocol for Transdiagnostic Treatment of Emotional Disorders: Increasing Emotional Literacy and Functioning Using Methods You Already Know

Transdiagnostic treatments are effective methods to address a wide variety of emotional disorders. David Barlow’s Unified Protocol (UP) for transdiagnostic treatment of emotional disorders is one such treatment approach. Using skills from traditional second wave CBT, ACT, DBT, and exposure therapy, this exciting approach can offer solid skills adaptable to clients struggling with many types of underlying emotional dysfunction.

This workshop will provide a basic overview of the UP. We will focus on UP skills of emotional literacy and awareness, foundational tools that complement any therapeutic approach. More advanced steps of emotional exposure will be briefly covered. Adaptation of the UP and limitations of evidence-based practice will be discussed. Clinicians will leave with tangible skills to utilize in practice immediately.
